Problem: Frequent pause is noted using 6470M with open source Radeon driver. Kernel reports EDID spam .... Solution: In /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf: add options drm_kms_helper poll=0 The fix doesn't eliminate the problem but make it much less frequent and become tolerable.
